Globus Theatre Brings You Five Fabulous Favourites!

Globus Theatre is preparing to celebrate their 15th season of professional summer theatre with 5 fabulous shows guaranteed to get your toes tapping, tears flowing and the laughter ensuing.

“They are 5 very different shows,” explains Artistic Director Sarah Quick, “and I’m excited about each and every one of them! We’re delighted to welcome Leisa Way and her fabulous band back again with Across the Pond: The British Invasion June 26th – July 7th. Her shows are an audience favourite and the energy and vitality that courses through the building when her shows are running is a delight!”

The second show of the season is Lunenburg by Norm Foster July 11th – 21st. “Another audience favourite,” beams Quick, “Norm has fans that travel from across the region to see his shows and the fact that he now has his own festival – The Foster Fest – in St Catherine’s means that he is writing many new and wonderful scripts that we are delighted to be able to share with our audiences”

The hilarious Chris Gibbs is bringing one of his most critically acclaimed shows Like Father, Like Son? Sorry to Globus July 24th – Aug 4th. “Chris has worked frequently with Globus since our inaugural season so it seems fitting to include him in our 15th anniversary celebrations”, says Quick. “He is a delightful performer whose quick-wit and endearing personality make for a great night at the theatre – to have an entire audience roaring with uncontrollable laughter is a challenge and Chris does it with ease!”

The fourth show of the summer is Murder for Two – A Musical Comedy August 8th – 18th and will be done ‘in the round’ with a grand piano making up the set. “Well, it isn’t just any piano!” exclaims Quick, “it is a rather fabulous grand piano that used to belong to Mr Colm Wilkinson. We acquired it this year. He gave it to us for a song (ha!) and it is beautiful. And we have two incredible Dora award-winning actors and musicians, Matt Philipiak and Victor Pokinko, that will put it to great use in this fast and funny whodunit.

Rounding out the season is new Canadian comedy Sugar Road by Kristen Da Silva Aug 22nd – Sept 1st. Quick herself performed in the world premiere last fall at Theatre Orangeville and deems it one of her career highlights. “I got to originate the role of Caroline,” she says proudly, “a no-nonsense farm girl with a slight obsession for a certain cowboy country singer. Audiences in Orangeville loved the show and I know our audiences will too. It’s a fab script, we have a stellar cast and I can’t wait to bring Caroline to life again!”

All of the shows take place in Globus’ unique venue, the Lakeview Arts Barn, where patrons can choose to dine prior to the show in their FeastON accredited restaurant. Once a working cattle barn the LAB is now an intimate, contemporary and comfortable space in which to watch some of Ontario’s great summer theatre.
